Hozo exclusively answers to Eumsn Bones Questions forwarded by Vishal.

Vishal - What are you doing nowadays, any recording or shows?

Hozo - Well we are in the studio recording a last single release for the band before we start writing new materials for a full length album and we are working out on an Indian tour….thats pretty much what we are doing now…

Vishal - Can I get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of Grungy Morphins for the band?

Hozo - Well Grungy Morphins means “Ghosts that attacks without warning” and to cut short a long story, we started in 2000, since then there’s been many line-up changes, played many shows all over India and a few shows in Nepal….recorded few demos, got featured in some national and international compilation albums, featured in many podcasts and f.m’s all over the world, just released a 3 way Cross Country split album between Grungy Morphins “The Gorkha Metal Warriors”, Sangre (California) and Necrocest (U.K.), and now we are looking forward to record a full length album and hopefully release it some time soon, maybe early next year.

Vishal - What are the lyrical themes you guys use in your song? Gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc...

Hozo - Well we write about everything actually, Gore, Horror, Society, Anti-Terrorism and stuffs like that…

Vishal - How it feels to be in an Underground Scene? And do you appreciate the Darjeeling scene?

Hozo - Well actually I would’nt call it the underground scene….coz no band in the world wants to be an underground band (though they call themselves an underground band) everyone wants to be heard/known well that’s why they record, play gigs, promote their materials u  know…(hahahaha…) anyways it feels great to be a part of such a great scene…..and yes ofcourse we appreciate the metal scene from all over the world and Darjeeling is no Exception…

Vishal - Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?

Hozo - That’s a tough one….well right from Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Kreator, Death, Obituary, Immolation, Cannibal Corpse, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Obscenity, Vehemence, and the list can go on forever…..its actually all the great bands that we grew up listening to right from our childhood days anything from Hard Rock to Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, Old School Death Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, and the genres that follow…

Vishal - What are the future plans of Grungy Morphins? Any tours, releases etc.

Hozo - Ya like I said, we are gonna record a full length album soon, we are working out on a tour and hopefully we should be able to take it a step further and take our music beyond India…

Vishal - What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?

Hozo - That’s a good thing coz the time when we started there were very few or no Sites promoting metal music so it was very difficult to be heard and to promote our stuffs….but now the world is very small, its just a click away and with the help of the sites posting metal materials u can keep a track on what’s happening, where we can listen / download songs from the new / old bands, bands that u like or hate everything is on the internet…so its a great thing….we love it…and everyone loves it (hahahahaha….)

Vishal - How do you feel about the classifications in metal? Like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres...

Hozo - Well… its all good as long as its still metal…

Vishal - In general term extreme metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?

Hozo - Well that’s not much of a bother for us….coz we’ve never cared on what the people thinks about the kind of music that we listen to or play…everyone has their opinions and likewise we have ours…we love it, we listen to it and we play it…it does’nt matter….u don’t like it…get the fuck out hahahahahaha…So much for the Society brother…hahahahaha….

Vishal - Ok, what do you want to tell those people who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?

Hozo - Well I guess we have to be o.k. with it and get used to it….coz no matter how hard we try, we cant stop it….and its allright to download…coz that’s how we get access to many of the stuffs that we watch and listen to these days…so we got to get used to it….though the bands losses on many things financially coz of the piracy and stuffs like that….but there’s no Help…So…

Vishal - Beside Grungy Morphins you have any other projects too?

Hozo - For me…No, but other members of the band plays in other bands too but Grungy Morphins is the main Priority…..

Vishal - Is it hard surviving in underground Scene? And since you are in this field for more than decade, did you find any changes from there to here?

Hozo - Well it is very difficult to survive in the Metal scene and being in a band, but its all good as long as u r doing what u love to do….well there definitely are many changes nowadays, the scene is growing now….when we were playing metal music there was no scene at all….but now there is a scene here….that’s one of the most important changes apart from that, the instruments the number of shows, the website, the social sites, etc…its definitely come a long way….but there’s a long way to go…

Vishal - Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?

Hozo - Like I said, no-one wants to be an Underground band, everyone wants to be known and heard…and if u are successful and if people like ur stuffs and like ur band…that’s a good thing….and its good as long as u r still playing metal music….but to change the music style to be famous and to be known…that’s bullshit…

Vishal - What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal? Esp. Nepal, Darjeeling & Sikkim

Hozo - Well we definitely have a long way to go…but its growing and building up…its come a long way from the time that we started and it has improved a lot….

Vishal - Which is the album you want to take to your grave?

Hozo - Somewhere in Time by Iron Maiden, my alltime favourite album by Iron Maiden.

Vishal - Can you recommend us some good bands from Darjeeling for our readers?

Hozo - Well there are many, 2 Point 4 Three, Decent Riot, Oblitirating Vortex, When Stories End, Sound of Silence, Sycorax, Sinister Violence, Malevolent Bloodshed, Circles End, Head Motiff, DNA, Imperial Cult, and many I can remember all the bands just now…all are good bands in their own rights…..and we support all of them…..

Vishal - Support Local Metal, how much you agree on this quote?

Hozo - Well we support local music and local bands from all over the world….we have changed the quote to “Support Local Music from Everywhere” (hahahaha…) as long as the music is good and are in it genuinely…

Vishal - Where do our readers can buy and listen GM music and any other merchandise?

Hozo - Well here are a few links to our pages :

http://www.myspace.com/grungymorphins
Vishal - Do you remember the feeling of your first show with GM? And how did the crowd react to your first show?

Hozo - It was good….it was in 2003 (the band was started in 2000 and we could only make a debut in 2003 coz no-one wanted a metal band in their show hahahaha….that was how it was back then…), most of the people didn’t relate to it and didn’t appreciate it….but we had a few people who really enjoyed our set and appreciated it…

Vishal - In near future if any band from Nepal approaches to you for a Split Album, are you going to approve this?

Hozo - Ofcourse, Definitely.

Vishal - Can you tell us bit about the three way Split with Sangre & Necrocest?

Hozo - Well the album features 5 songs each from all the bands so it has 15 songs altogether in the album and was released on the 31st. of Oct. 2012 through Autopsy Records from the U.K. and we are kinda getting a good response….the basic idea is to promote each other, like the fans of Sangre can listen to Necrocest and us and the fans of Necrocest can listen to Sangre and us…and our Fans and Supporters can listen to Sangre and Necrocest, that’s pretty much what the whole idea of the split album is all about.

Vishal - Your dream metal fest line up? Pick the bands from Nepal, Darjeeling & Sikkim..Ha..Ha..
Hozo - Well that’s a tough one hahahahaha….anyways for me it would be Ugra Karma, Cruentus, Kalodin, Narsamhaar and X-Mantra from Nepal, Dream Diabolic and Flashflood from Sikkim and maybe 4 to 5 good bands from Darjeeling……would’nt dare to name the bands from Darjeeling hahahahaha….

Vishal - How do you look at this when Vocalist says "LOIFE" instead of "LIFE", is it a trend or..?

Hozo - Well…Fuck Off…..hahahahaha…it must be a trend…I don’t know and I’am not sure what that really is…hahahaha…..

Vishal - Quick top 5 albums we must have in our collection.

Hozo - 1. Somewhere in Time – Iron Maiden, 2) Cold Blooded Murder – Obscenity, 3) Rust In Peace – Megadeth, 4) Tomb of the Mutilated – Cannibal Corpse & 5) Battle Hymns - Manowar

Vishal - Lastly, a space for you anything EUMSN have forgotten to ask you can tell us here?
