Biography :- Fiend formed in early 2012 featuring members of Netherealm, Nothin' Suss and Jigsaw Terror. Fiend began when Goreslug and Station Creep decided it had been too long without grinding and started recording their first demo Southern As Fuck. They enlisted The Commander and Nimur-Anu for vocals, and the demo was complete, showcasing 9 tracks of Gore soaked groovy cum blasts. Nimur-Anu then made the decision to leave Fiend for personal reasons but at the same time Taz was then enlisted as our drummer. Shortly after recording the split with Hyperemesis and Cystgurgle, The Commander also left the band to pursue other commitments. At this point in time Fiend have 3 splits planned for the coming months with bands from Thailand, Brazil, Indonesia, Canada and more to come! Stay tuned and Stay Fiendish! We play Porno/Gore/Southern Cross Grindcore. Fuck You Cunt!

Vishal - What are you doing nowadays?
Goreslug
-  Currently recording for our split with Condiloma (Brazil) which will be released by Last Grindered Days Records (Brazil) as well mastering our split with Cystgurgle (Thailand) and Hyperemesis (Canada) which will be out on Putrid Attitude Records (France). We are also rehearsing so we can start playing gigs in 2013.

Vishal - Can i get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of Fiend exactly means to the band?
Goreslug
-  Fiend started around February 2012 when Station Creep (Bass/Vocals) and myself (I'm Goreslug btw haha Guitars/Vocals) started to record some tracks I had laying around since our former band Nothin' Suss which disbanded in early 2010. We decided to start grinding again and began recording our demo entitled Southern As Fuck and ended up with 9 tracks. We recruited 2 vocalists for the demo being The Commander and Nimur - Anu. Nimur-Anu left the band shortly after and we began work on our first split release with Hyperemesis and Cystgurgle, which is now complete and ready for release. During this time we found a drummer who used to play in a death/grind band called Jigsaw Torture and we started to rehearse for live shows next year which we will continue to do over the summer. Shortly after recording this split The Commander also left the band which now leaves the 3 of us. We are currently looking for a new vocalist but we will see what happens. The name Fiend I think is a good representation of what the band is about, being fiendish and doing awful stuff haha. We think it suits us well.

Vishal - What are the lyrical themes you use in your song?gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc..
Goreslug
-  Lyrically we have very sick humour which blends porn, gore and fetishes. We like having a good laugh at it and I'm sure the fans do as well. Anyone who takes what we sing about seriously is stupid. What we have tried to do is bring an Australian flavour to our lyrical content, using our native slang words and accent.

Vishal - How it feels to be in a Underground band? And for how many years you are in this scene?
Goreslug
-  Underground music is the best, it is where the soul of real music is. For us I think we've been in underground music for years, Station Creep and myself have been doing underground Grindcore since 2005 but I think our drummer has been doing it longer. It's great being an underground musician because you find other bands in the same category all over the world and you get to share your music with eachother.

Vishal - Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?
Goreslug
-  I would say the bands that have influenced Fiend most would be Cock and Ball Torture, Spasm, Rompeprop, Hymen Holocaust, Satan's Revenge On Mankind, The Day Everything Became Nothing, Blood Duster and many more. We also love the older bands like Nasum and Napalm Death.

Vishal - What are the future plans of Fiend? any tours, releases, recordings etc.
Goreslug
-  Next year we will have more split releases out with different labels and will be playing gigs as well. We dont have plans for an album just yet.

Vishal - What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?
Goreslug
-  I think it's great that bands have the opportunity for websites promoting their music, it's great networking for musicians.

Vishal - How do you feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres..
Goreslug
-  It doesn't really matter what a band describes themselves as whether it's slamming brutal death metal or post hardcore rock, it's all heavy music anyway. I think their are too many subgenres and it's ridiculous, bands keep creating them to try and stand out. Fiend plays Grindcore, enough said. But if we wanted we could call it Aussie Porno Goregrind Groove Salsa hahaha.

Vishal - In general term extreme metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?
Goreslug
-  Extreme music isn't for everyone, and that's their loss haha. Fuck society and their standards.

Vishal - Ok, what do you want to tell those peoples who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?
Goreslug -  That's the way it is now unfortunately since the introduction of the internet. You cant really blame anyone it was going to happen anyway, but I do think it is important for music fans to support bands by buying their products.

Vishal - Beside Fiend do you have any other projects too?
Goreslug -  Yeah we all work on different projects and different styles of music. For example I compose music for a Doom metal side project called Aeron.

Vishal - Is it hard surviving in underground Scene?
Goreslug -   No I dont think so. I think it's easier because your not competing with mainstream bullshit haha
Vishal - Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?
Goreslug -  Should a band make more money or not? haha it depends on what the major record labels want to promote to a mainstream audience. For me I find the best metal is underground anyway. .

Vishal - What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal?
Goreslug -  Underground metal is great, it's raw and honest music. It's good to see it growing too, all over the world.

Vishal - Which is the album you want to take to your grave?
Goreslug -  What album to take to my grave? I really dont know haha.

Vishal - Can you recommend us some good bands from your country for our readers?
Goreslug - Good Australian bands would include Blood Duster, Captain Cleanoff, Fuck I'm Dead, The Day Everything Became Nothing, The Kill, The Mung, Super Fun Happy Slide, Festering Drippage, Grannyfist, Roadside Burial. There's quite alot but that's all I can think of right now.

Vishal - Support Underground Metal, how much you agree on this quote?
Goreslug - I agree 100%

Vishal - Where do our readers can buy and listen Fiend music and any other merchandise?
Goreslug - We dont have any records out just yet but our demo is available on our facebook page for free download or you can download them from our reverbnation page, plus some newer songs from our upcoming splits. We will have more merchandise in the near future, shirts and stuff.

Vishal - Do you remember the feeling of your first show with Fiend? and how did the crowd reacted to your first show?
Goreslug - We haven't played a show yet hahaha but at rehearsal we are pretty confident people will be entertained. We've had very positive feedback from fans about the music so we think our shows will too.

Vishal - Fans from Nepal doesn't have a proper way to reach your records and any other such bands, Is there an easy way so we can also get the hold of cds, shirts etc.
Goreslug - Yes, visit our facebook page or reverbnation page. You can also find some of our songs on youtube which fans have uploaded themselves.

Vishal - Do you have any plans to come to Nepal and play for your fans in coming days?
Goreslug -  Not in the coming days no haha, although a show in Nepal would be fucking awesome!

Vishal - What do you hate in Underground Metal?like, anything..
Goreslug -  I hate musicians who take their music way too seriosuly and condescend to other bands they dont like. There are alot of dickheads who play or listen to metal unfortunately.

Vishal - Your dream metal fest line up.
Goreslug -  Black Sabbath, Napalm Death, Slayer, Immortal just to name a few. Too many bands to think of.

Vishal - Quick top 5 albums we must have in our collection.
Goreslug -  Buy everything that Napalm Death has ever recorded hahaha.

Vishal - Lastly, a space for you anything EUMSN have forgotten to ask you can tell us here?
Goreslug - Thankyou for the interview and support Underground music. Greetings to Nepal, stay sick!
