Goemagot (Brutal Death Metal / Slam from Rochester, NY)

Official Facebook Page - http://www.facebook.com/Goemagot

Biography :- Goemagot formed in November 2011 and was signed to Sevared Records soon after. Thus, the band began contemplating the release of "Parasitic Incineration," which was released at Sevared Records Brutality Reigns Fest II. The band hit the road in July for their "Parasitic Incineration Tour 2012" to begin spreading their brutality across the US. After the tour, Goemagot began writing furiously to prepare for their debut full length, "Eradication of Insignificant Beings." This album is set to release in January 2013, and is, without a doubt, crushing, technical, and unique. Get fucking ready.

Description :- Pronounced as /goʊˈɛməgɒt/ (go-EHM-uh-got)

"Even though Goemagot are less than a year old, they have crafted one of the best written demos I have ever heard in the realm of brutal death metal. There is just so much to take in from these three songs that the replay value completely skyrockets from the very first play through."  - METAL BLAST

"In a genre where slam is currently getting huge, new bands a seemingly not only a dime a dozen, but a dime for two dozen. They come quickly, they put out a shitty recorded demo filled with boring slam parts and then disappear. Every now and then a band will put out a demo that is awesome, but then you never hear from them again either. The even more rare these days is the death metal demo that completely kills it and renews faith in the genre. I believe Goemagot has just done that for me." - STEREO KILLER

Daniel from Goemagot exclusively answers to some of our Questions forwarded to Band by Vishal.

Vishal - What are you doing nowadays?
Daniel
- Currently we're looking for a replacement guitarist because Matt is moving back to new jersey for school and personal reasons. We have a few people wanting to try out so hopefully we find one who fits and keeps the signature Goemagot sound going. But we were just confirmed for two festivals in march. One in Philadelphia and one in Montreal Quebec Canada.

Vishal - Can i get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of Goemagot exactly means to the band?
Daniel
- Goemagot is a giant. His mother killed her husband and had sex with a demon and gave birth to two giants, Goemagot being the biggest.

Vishal - What are the lyrical themes you use in your song?gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc..
Cody - The lyrics are obviously dark being in this sort of genre, but I try to add a slightly different twist to the mundane act of dismembering people in the most disgusting way. Some of the lyrics are campy, some are stories of fiction I've created, and others are an attack on modern egoism and intellectualism. A couple of the songs are about the ignorance of humanity and how we are specks of dirt in the bigger picture of the universe. I just have fun and sometimes speak things that are on my mind as well."

Vishal - How it feels to be in a Underground band? And for how many years you are in this scene?
Daniel
- It's pretty fun being in an underground band. The Sevared record label is like one big family. Simply put everyone gets along well and it's always a blast playing shows. And we formed in November of 2011, which makes us just over a year old haha we're still somewhat new.

Vishal - Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?
Daniel
- Abominable Putridity, Braindrill, Devourment, Pathology, etc. it's really hard to say because everyone has different influences they bring to the Goemagot sound. Black metal mainly influences my playing. Bands being Emperor, Belphegor, Anaal Nathrakh, Behemoth, Setherial, Dark Funeral etc.

Vishal - What are the future plans of Goemagot? any tours, releases, recordings etc.
Daniel
- We are playing a few festivals next year and hopefully a tour. And we do plan on releasing another full length. Cody and I both decided that once we find a replacement guitarist (or two) that we will start writing new tunes that will push our musical abilities and create what will be a horrifyingly brutal experience.

Vishal - What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?
Daniel
- I think it's awesome that bands that do not get a lot of publicity are being in the spotlight on these sites and people are able to hear their music they've worked hard on. It's a great feeling. But being in a signed band and spending quite a bit in the studio and having it open for free download online does suck. So that's why I just buy music off of iTunes if I like a band I come across on sites like those.

Vishal - How do you feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres..
Daniel
- I think deathcore is an abomination to the music scene. It should have died back in 2005 with the whole scene/emo movement. Ya sure I was in a deathcore band, but I soon realized there isn't that much originality in that genre and is solely based on who has the heaviest breakdowns. As for hardcore I used to be into it to a point but I never really indulged in the genre. But sub-genres I think are pointless because there's always someone out there who thinks you're wrong about it and tries to correct you. Music is music. Enjoy it for what it is.

Vishal - In general term extreme metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?
Daniel
- People have their own musical preferences and I respect people's choices on that subject.

Vishal - Ok, what do you want to tell those peoples who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?
Daniel
- Just buy it if you dig it. Musicians put a lot of time and money into those CDs you download for free. It's just respectful.

Vishal - Beside Goemagot do you have any other projects too?
Daniel
- I am the current live drummer for Splattered Entrails.

Vishal - Is it hard surviving in underground Scene?
Daniel
- Not really. Our first tour was incredible and we didn't pay out of pocket once. You just have to be motivated, work hard and stick with it and you'll be fine.

Vishal - Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?
Daniel
- I guess it's up to the band really. Usually when a band goes mainstream they change their sound and become a completely different band. But some stay true to their sound which is always a plus.

Vishal - What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal?
Daniel
- I think it's fucking awesome. There's so many brutal death bands popping up which is incredible. The bonds of the brutal death underground music scene is Are growing tighter and like I mentioned earlier it's like a big family.

Vishal - Which is the album you want to take to your grave?
Daniel
- Kinda hard to say. Probably an external hard drive with my entire music collection on it.

Vishal - Can you recommend us some good bands from your country for our readers?
Danie
l - Gorgasm, Putrid Pile, Cerebral Incubation, Abdicate, Braindrill, Viraemia, Splattered Entrails, Guttural Secrete, Animals Killing People, Macerated, Inherit Disease, Abnormality, Malignancy, etc. most of my music I listen to is from Europe haha.

Daniel
- I stand by it 100% support the bands you enjoy so they can keep putting music out.

Vishal - Where do our readers can buy and listen Goemagot music and any other merchandise?
