Formless Terror (Brutal Death Metal from Skopje, Macedonia)

Official Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Formless-Terror/187702914113

Biography :- The band was formed in 2006 and through some line up changes it's aim was to play brutal death metal with technical touches, influenced mostly by the American death metal scene. There are a lot of gigs and festival performances behind Formless Terror, sharing the stage with bands like Vital Remains, Krisiun, Malevolent Creation and many others!! Three official releases so far, a promo CD which contains three songs, a split cd called "Supreme Brutal Legions 3" and their first full lenght "Sovereign Chaos Authority" which is out now on Sevared Records!!!!!

Vishal - What are you doing nowadays?Slobodan -  Thank you also for the opportunity to present Formless Terror to all the readers. Right now we’re just in the process of finishing the material for the second album and planning a tour, so we’ll see how that goes.

Vishal - Can i get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of Formless Terror exactly means to the band?

Slobodan - The band started off around 2006, bunch of dudes obsessed with extreme music decided to create some of their own material, at that time inspired mostly by the American death metal scene. Lot of gigs, festival performances and three official releases so far, a promo CD of three songs, split called “Supreme Brutal Legions 3” and full length “Sovereign Chaos Authority” released through Sevared Records. About the name of the band, we wanted to represent some kind of a symbol of an unstoppable force of dark and brutal supremacy. The fear that is induced by a formless threat is much greater than the one caused by something that you can actually see and touch.

Vishal - What are the lyrical themes you use in your song?gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc..

Slobodan - Our vocalist Zoran can give the best answer for this, cause he’s behind the lyrics. I can only say that the main theme is hate towards Christianity as a global blindness of the masses, killing every free thought and feelings.

Vishal - How it feels to be in a Underground band? And for how many years you are in this scene?

Slobodan - I’ve been in the scene for about 15 years now. Started with another band called Embryotomy, later on formed Formless Terror. All I can say is that a big part of my life I devoted to the underground scene, the passion for making music, putting out shows not just for your band, but helping others as well , support is the key word in the Underground.

Vishal - Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?

Slobodan - The list is endless. Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Disgorge, Disavowed, Beheaded, Dying Fetus, Decrepit Birth, Krisiun, Nile, Origin, Gorgasm and many more….

Vishal - What are the future plans of Formless Terror? any tours, releases, recordings etc.

Slobodan - Yes, as I said at the beginning the writing of the new material is at end, so hopefully we’ll start recording this year. Also we’re planning one more mini tour for support of our debut album Sovereign Chaos Authority.

Vishal - What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?

Slobodan - I know the mainstream is bitchin’ a lot about them, but for me it’s free promotion and more support for underground bands world wide from diehard fans. It’s really amazing just to see that someone is dedicated enough to spread the name of a band and later on if you dig the stuff, buy the merch, cause at the end that’s the real support.

Vishal - How do you feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres..
Slobodan -  Classifications went wild in the last couple of years, not that it bothers me much, but if you had 10 or 15 years ago 5 or 6 subgenres, today it’s like 100. I don’t know how do they come up with them , but sometimes the whole thing looks like a joke.

Vishal - In general term metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?

Slobodan - It’s still a shocking theme to most of the people, but that’s the good part of it, cause a metal fan doesn’t like to be like everybody else. A metal fan is dedicated and passionate about the music and the lifestyle of the culture. For example, just compare a concert of Lady Gaga and Cannibal Corpse, I can tell you that 50% of the people at the Gaga concert just wandered in cause they heard about her on the TV, but on the other hand at a CC concert you don’t have shit like that. Nobody just comes along to a see a band with a name like Cannibal Corpse hahah, the majority of the people who bought the ticket are all diehard fans. That’s the difference between the everyday stereotype bullshit society and the metal culture.

Vishal - Ok, what do you want to tell those peoples who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?
Slobodan - Unfortunately a lot of people don’t collect albums like in the past, the free downloading killed the passion for it. It’s ok if you want to check out the band’s sound and everything, but as I said before if you like the album, the real support is to buy it, cause that’s helping the band to do more shows and create more music.

Vishal - Beside Formless Terror do you have any other projects you have? If then, Can you tell us about those projects in few words?
Slobodan - I’m also in another band called Embryotomy, but we’re on pause for a long time now. Nothing happening much.

Vishal - Is it hard surviving in underground Scene?
Slobodan - Damn hard, but when you find something that you love doing, that gives you fulfillment and drives you not to give up easily, the result at the end can be almost an unforgettable experience.

Vishal - Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?

Slobodan - It can’t go mainstream, cause it’s not an easy going, the kind of sticks in your head upon the first listen type of music. You have millions of people who grew up listening to Backstreet Boys and Ace of Base, try explaining them about death metal or thrash metal, they’ll just get confused and immediately think about satan, drugs and other stereotypical bullshit. That’s why you can’t get metal like pop or hip hop 24/7 on popular radio stations and tv channels.

Vishal - What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal?
Slobodan - It’s getting bigger everyday, you’ve got an ocean of bands worldwide, but unfortunately the turn out at shows is not that great as in the past. You have to struggle for this like crazy.

Vishal - Which is the album you want to take to your grave?

Slobodan - Slayer – Reign in blood.

Vishal - Can you recommend us some good bands from your country for our readers?
Slobodan - I’ll only recommend active bands so check out Nihilist, Demency, Skullcrush, Furion, Last Act Of Defiance, Smut, Hardfaced…..

Vishal - Support Underground Metal, how much you agree on this quote?

Slobodan - 100%

Vishal - Where do our readers can buy and listen Formless Terror and any other merchandise?
Slobodan - You can check us out on youtube and our facebook page for updates. Our debut album is available at the online Sevared Records catalog or you can buy it directly from the band via formlessterror@yahoo.com or facebook message.

Vishal - Do you remember your first show with Formless Terror, How was it and how did the crowd reacted to your first show?
Slobodan - Yeah I remember it pretty well, we only had like 5 or 6 songs our material and couple of covers. The show was cool, we played with a bunch of local bands to our surprise there were a lot of people at the club.

Vishal - Metal Fans from Nepal doesn't have a proper way to reach your records and any other such bands, Is there an easy way so we can also get the hold of cds, shirts etc.

Slobodan - Sevared Records is shipping worldwide, so I don’t think it would be a problem to get hold of the album.

Vishal - Do you have any plans to come to Nepal in coming days?
Slobodan - We would gladly play a show anywhere in the world.

Vishal - What do you hate in Underground Metal?like, anything..
Slobodan - All I can think of right now is rip offs. I’ve seen too many bands fucked up by scumbags like these. Also egotistical stuck ups, especially musicians who think they are rock stars, but in fact they are shit.

Vishal - Your dream metal fest line up.

Slobodan - Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Krisiun, Dying Fetus……headliner Slayer. Saw every band live already, but if you put these guys in one night, I’ll be probably dead at the end of the show.

Vishal - Quick top 5 albums we must have in our collection.

Slobodan - Krisiun – Conquerors of Armageddon, Deicide – Once Upon The Cross, Cannibal Corpse – Vile, Nile – Black Seeds Of Vengeance, Severe Torture – Feasting On Blood.

Vishal - Lastly, a space for you anything EUMSN have forgotten to ask you can tell us here?
Slobodan - A big hail goes out to you guys for supporting death metal and giving us a chance to spread our word in your page. Stay brutal.
