If Hope Does (Metal from Darjeeling)

Official Band Page -

Aakash from If Hope Dies exclusively replies to our questions,

Vishal - Can i get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of If Hope Dies exactly means to the band?
Aakash - IF HOPE DIES took birth in mid 2010, It was just a sharing idea between me and Abinash(guitarist), two lads from Sukna (foothills of Darjeeling) to do what we love for & were friends since childhood and grew up listening metal together, so it was like a desire for us to form a band, write good songs and perform. IF HOPE DIES, its kind of incomplete sentence you know people can take it in both positive and negative way like for us, IF HOPE DIES then we wouldn’t be forming a band, we wouldn't have been playing good gigs & sharing stage with really cool bands, for us its all about positive HOPE. “HOPE = DRIVING FORCE”

Vishal - What are the lyrical themes you guys use in your song?gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc..
Aakash - Most of our lyrics are about life, about us, about society, about frustration & anger. We are bunch of lads pissed off with many things going around us.

Vishal - How it feels to be in a Underground Scene? And do you appreciate your underground scene?
Aakash - Well its neutral for us. Its like SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST.Those who work hard give 100% in what they do then  I am sure, they will rise above all. Dedication is must.

Ummm, underground metal scene here in Siliguri/Darjeeling sucks no proper gigs, ain't even proper platform to perform & most probably the organizing committee they sucks big time, they promise of something and they end up doing something. All they care about is themselves, they don’t see how hard the band has tried to put up a show. & to tell you a good number of bands are rising these days it feels good and gives a a good positive feeling for the coming future.

Vishal - Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?
Aakash - Loads and loads of bands… its all about rock and roll.

Vishal - What are the future plans of If Hope Dies? any tours, releases etc.
Aakash - We have recently parted our ways with drummer due to personal issues, so we are staying low on the gigging side we will be fully active after we found a proper replacement. And yes, we will be releasing our new singles soon. Keep an eye on our official facebook page.

Vishal - What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?
Aakash - That is something way beyond good. Its like introducing new band/music to the people who haven’t even heard of. So hats off to that.

Vishal - How do you guys feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres..
Aakash - fuck genre. Its metal.. pure fucking metal!!!

Vishal - In general term extreme metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?
Aakash - A big shout out to the society FUCKK YOU!!! From the bottom of our heart. Seriously, we don’t even give a fuck.. metal is for us.

Vishal - Ok, what do you want to tell those peoples who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?
Aakash - All I can say is support your fav. Bands. Somehow. Either buying their cds/merch or by  attending their gig.

Vishal - Beside If Hope Dies you have any other projects too?
Aakash - No.

Vishal - Is it hard surviving in underground Scene?
Aakash - Well yes, but who gives a shit about it, we know what we are doing and so do people will, hopefully.

Vishal - Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?
Aakash - See, this kind of things its doesn’t matter to us whether its mainstream or underground… as I told earlier its about METAL…and the hardwork the band put into. Some make it big few remains the same.

Vishal - What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal? esp. South Asia
Aakash - Growing growing and growing… it feels good.

Vishal - Which is the album you want to take to your grave?

Vishal - Can you recommend us some good bands from your place?
Aakash - Yeah… SINISTER VIOLENCE, GRUNGY MORPHINS, CIRCLES END, SYCORAX, DAMAGERA, EYESTILL & BURN THE WATER this bands can really make it big & make our place proud.

Vishal - Support Underground Metal, how much you agree on this quote?
Aakash - local bands no underground metal scene.. so I say each and everyone of you \support local metal/

Vishal - Where do our readers can buy and listen your music and any other merchandise?

Vishal - How was the feeling of first Live show as a If Hope Dies? and how did the crowd reacted to your first show?
Aakash - To tell you we were over excited and little bit of nervousness…but in the end of the day we pretty much nailed that gig… people they loved us, they were highly impressed, we still have nothing to complain about our first gig.

Vishal - In near future if any band from Nepal aproaches to you for a Split Album, are you goin to approve this?
Aakash - Oh yes we would love to. Obviously with BINAASH,WAAK THUU & NARSAMHAAR.

Vishal - Is there anything you hate most? like anything..
Aakash - Like society, wannabe fuckers & people who hate us,,, etc. etc .

Vishal - How do you look at this when Vocalist says "LOIFE" instead of "LIFE", is it a trend or..?
Aakash - It depends upon the vocalist how they want to pronounce it.. for me its simple “laaaaaaaife”.

Vishal - Quick top 5 albums we must have in our collection.

Vishal - Lastly, a space for you anything EUMSN have forgotten to ask you can tell us here?
Aakash - Nothing. We just want to say that we are bunch of guys with down to earth & straight on you face attitude. Love us, we need you people cheers. \SUPPORT LOCAL SCENE/. Thank you EUMSN, this conversation means lot to us. \../,
