Interview with Accidentally Murdered (Grindcore/Punk/Bum from Stockton)

Official Facebook Page -  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Accidentally-Murdered/190989997603288?fref=ts

Jonathan - What makes a good Grind/Death metal band?
AM - A band with members that in unison keep the music fast, hard, aggressive, brutally true and never trendy.

Jonathan - What's your opinion of the DIY movement?
AM - It's mandatory! To us it was never a movement, its something natural you have to do in order to make your band function. It's like anything else in life.. sometimes you want something done, you have to do it yourself, right? No one else is going to hold your hand, you have to put in the work.

Jonathan - Why is it so important for you to be in a band and do you have any funny stories to tell?
AM - It's very important. For us, we're friends first and bandmates second. So hanging out and jamming together is all in the same. We can't think of anything more fun in this life. It's that thing that keeps us motivated and we love it. Plenty of stories to tell.. haha, crazy and funny shit happens out there when you're playing shows. For example, one time in Oakland, Ca, we were playing a show at The Stork Club. We were all out front before the show having a cigarette, when what appeared to be a twacked out homeless guy was walking in the middle of the busy street. A CHP (California Highway Patrol) car was driving up behind the man and got on his loud speaker saying "Hey crackhead, get out of the road!" We all started dying of laughter. It was pretty hilarious.

Jonathan - What's the origin of the band name, Accidentally Murdered ?
AM - The name came up from thinking up song names that were comedic yet brutal. We didn't have a name at this point. The name one was brought up one day in the band room and we thought it was funny. Like, I've heard of someone getting accidentally killed, but how do you accidentally MURDER someone? The name was real catchy for us, we thought it would stick in people's heads.

Jonathan - Have you changed the band's name before?
AM - Nope, it's been the same name from the beggining. However, some of the songs were products of my old project. We kept those because they have the same feel.. we have always kept this genre true, it will stay real.

Jonathan - Who are your major influences? Or do you just write what you like and that is the result?
AM - Plenty of influences no doubt. We enjoy too many to name. Influences have played a major role in our lives and we thank our favorite bands for that. But when we write, we grind. We bounce riffs off eachother.. guitars, drums, bass .. we have fun and get our result.

Jonathan - How long have you all known each other?
AM - Two are actual family (uncle,nephew).. the rest of us have known eachother so long that its like we're all family.

Jonathan - How did you meet?
AM - Some of us in elementary, some in high school, and some in diapers.

Jonathan - When did you form your band?
AM - Started as a side project in June of '04. But it actually feels like we just got our shit together.

Jonathan - What inspired you to make music together?
AM - We're all on the same page. We write what we want to hear, we all have the same musical vibe and lucky for us we play the different instruments to form a band.

Jonathan - Im sure some countries or crowds are more enthusiastic than others, do you have any particular anecdotes to tell us? Any funny moments? Disappointments?
AM - Funny moments? YES. Disappointments? THEY HAPPEN. In this business, its whatever's next. We'll keep some things private, just know its been a fuckin' wild ride!

Jonathan - Which songs do you perform most frequently?
AM - Revenge Through Annihalation, Vaginal Battery, Deep Fried Babies, Slapped To Death...

Jonathan - Do you ever play any covers?
AM - We used to play "Streaks of Blood" by Bophamet a while back. Messed around with some "Vengence Unleashed" by Dying Fetus and "When Satan Rules His World" by Deicide .. but we're mainly busy watching football and writing our own stuff.

Jonathan - Who writes your songs?
AM - Everyone. The riffs can come from anyone here and there. Everyone just starts freestyling. Next thing you know, we're jammin' having a good 'ol time and poof... a song is born. Guitars play an important role to starting that process most of the time.

Jonathan - What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?
AM - Comedy/horror and real shit. We make them gruesome, but most of it is what happens in real life. For example, "Flesh Eating Semen" describes a rapist in action and some of the things that go through his mind. "Vaginal Battery" is just about sex.

Jonathan - Do you think these topics will change over time?
AM - Not likely. Fucked up things will always happen in this world. Its sad, but true. So we'll keep writing the brutal truth. However, its about what we're really in the mood for.. so it can be anything. Whatever comes to mind will proceed.

Jonathan - Could you briefly describe the music-making process?
AM - Example: Say I start fucking around (guitar) with something in my head.. Evil (drums) will follow and so forth. We pause to discuss, but freestyle is our style. Its all off the top of the head, then we knick knack it to start practicing it as a song. Also, communication between all of us is key. We run everything by everyone to make sure we are all satisfied moving forward.

Jonathan - What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
AM - Tuesdays and Thursdays officially are drinking, hanging out, bullshiting, smoking, and grinding our worries away days. We may sneak Saturdays in there too. But its a fucking awesome time practicing and kicking back at Chuck's(guitarist/jamspot).

Jonathan - How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?
AM - It has evolved into something much easier now. The flow is great and naturally you get better with time. But there will always be growth, so we have to keep on grindin'.

Jonathan - What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
AM - The biggest challenge for us is finances. Apart from having fun and playing gigs, you have the business side of it all. Equipment, recording, materials, gas, etc. Money will always be an obstacle, but we find ways overcome that. Some of us work, some slang.. whatever it takes to prevail.

Jonathan - What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
AM - Get to know your band members and start a positive bond amoungst yourselves first and foremost. It also helps out having everyone in agreement (deep down) to what genre you guys want to play. Have a little money to put up and the rest writes itself.

Jonathan - For those who don’t know you, How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?
AM - Mainly our Facebook page:www.facebook.com/accidentallymurdered. We are on Reverbnation.com and those have a few songs up from our debut album which should be coming out this summer ('13). Demo cds are available at shows.

Jonathan - And the last question is all yours, you decide what to say here!
AM - Support your locals, wash your hands, and whatever happens... just KEEP ON GRINDIN'!!!!

If any of you are fans of Grind/Death metal and really want to support the underground scene,
check out these guys and show them some respect!

Interview with We the Equinox (Metal from Orem, UT)

Official Facebbok Page -  https://www.facebook.com/WeTheEquinox

Listen them here :-

Vishal - "What are you doing nowadays?"
Luis
- "Currently we're making all of the preparations in order to hit the stage and do it the right way. It is taking a bit of time but it'll be worth it when it happens."

Vishal - "Can i get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of We The Equinox means to the band?"
Luis
- "We all knew each other from previous bands and when we got together it was an instant click. We The Equinox stems from the feeling that we all had at the time that we were turning over a new leaf, a turning point, if you look up what the EQUINOX is it makes more sense."

Vishal - "What are the lyrical themes you use in your song?gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc.."
Luis
-"We all write lyrics collectively. Our lyrics are centered around life experiences we've had and what they've taught us. Acknowledging the bad in the world but focusing on the good."

Vishal - "How it feels to be in a Underground band? And for how many years you are in this scene?"
Luis
- "Aggressive music will always be more of an outcast in the music scene but it makes for a closer community so in that sense we don't mind. We've all been in the scene for years but this band is fairly young. Under a year."

Vishal - "Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?:
Luis
- "Influences come from a lot of different genres and bands but if I were to pick a few it would be Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, Within the Ruins, etc."

Vishal - "What are the future plans of We The Equinox ? any tours, releases, recordings etc."
Luis
- "We're releasing our debut self titled demo this Friday the 14th. After that we'll be focusing on hitting the stage and making an impact in our local scene."

Vishal - "What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?"
Luis
- "I think sites like this are a huge medium for bands to reach people they wouldn't have otherwise. For any band trying to get their music heard and name out there sites that really care about the community and music are super important."

Vishal - "How do you feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres.."
Luis
- "Those classifications help when trying to explain a certain sound or influence to others but they tend to divide people way too much. Good music is good music regardless."

Vishal - "In general term metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?"
Luis
- "It is an outcast genre. Though people will recognize talent and passion regardless of what the label is. That is, if they're open minded."

Vishal - "Ok, what do you want to tell those peoples who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?"
Luis
- "It really does hurt the band. Bands try to reach certain financial goals in order to continue to provide the best material for their fans. So stop."

Vishal - "Beside We The Equinox do you have any other projects you have? If then, Can you tell us about those projects in few words?"
Luis
- "Our bassist, Allen Barkley, is in another band as well. Dethrone the Sovereign. They're killing it!"

Vishal - "Is it hard surviving in underground Scene?"
Luis
- "People complain that there is not much of a scene and so the hopes for their bands are low but if there is no scene, make one! Hard work is always rewarded."

Vishal - "Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?"
Luis
- "That's the beauty about the genre as a whole. There is metal that is underground and some that is mainstream. It doesn't have to be one or the other."

Vishal - "What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal?"
Luis
- "There is a lot of talent in the underground scene. A lot of bands are tearing it up. Music lovers will actually take the time to dig through and find those bands."

Vishal - "Which is the album you want to take to your grave?"
Luis
- "Tough question, I've been diggin this album a lot lately Hollow Crown by Architects. A perfect blend of great musicianship and hooks/melodies. Every member is a master of their instrument. I can't speak for the whole band though."

Vishal - "Can you recommend us some good bands from your country for our readers?"
Luis
- "I've gotta pick our brothers from Dethrone the Sovereign. You've probably heard of every other major band from here.

Vishal - "Support Underground Metal, how much you agree on this quote?"
Luis
- "Agree whole heartedly! Bands need a good fanbase to succeed! We can't do it without you!"

Vishal - Where do our readers can buy and listen We The Equinox and any other merchandise?"
Luis
- "You can download our demo from wetheequinox.bandcamp.com, iTunes, Spotify, etc. For physical copies of our demo and upcoming shirts you can visit wetheequinox.bigcartel.com.

Vishal - "Do you remember your first show with We The Equinox, How was it and how did the crowd reacted to your first show?"
Luis
- "Haha we haven't played a show yet. We're working towards that but putting in the preparation has already given us a solid fanbase to work with when we're ready to hit the stage."

Vishal - "Metal Fans from Nepal doesn't have a proper way to reach your records and any other such bands, Is there an easy way so we can also get the hold of cds, shirts etc."
Luis
- "All our merchindise will be posted on wetheequinox.bigcartel.com and for downloads of our music visit wetheequinox.bandcamp.com, iTunes, Spotify, etc."

Vishal - "Do you have any plans to come to Kathmandu (Nepal) in coming days?"
Luis
- "Maybe in the future, who knows where this will take us."

Vishal - "What do you hate in Underground Metal?like, anything.."
Luis
- "I wouln't say I hate it but there's too much division between the different groups of people with certain genres. Just get along! Appreciate good music! Simple as that."

Vishal - "Your dream metal fest line up."
Luis
- "Between the Buried and Me, Pantera, Impending Doom, As I Lay Dying, Animals as Leaders, Within the Ruins, there's just too many."

Vishal - "Quick top 5 albums we must have in our collection."
Luis
- "Periphery II, Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power, Between the Buried and Me - Colors, Impending Doom - Baptized in Filth, Architects - Hollow Crown."

Vishal - "Lastly, a space for you anything EUMSN have forgotten to ask you can tell us here?"

We're currently doing a lot of work and preparations to give you all the best that we have to offer both on and off stage. While you're here...

Interview with Fiaz Grinder of Asilent (Brutal Death Metal from Singapore)

Official Band Page -  https://www.facebook.com/AsilentBand?fref=ts

Biography :- Asilent was brought fort by Fiaz on bass guitar in October 2004.

Fiaz then approached Farhan, who used to play in the same band with him before, to take on the guitarist position. The assembly was almost complete, but they were still missing a Skins Blaster/Drummer. Months passed and entered Kenny, an old friend of the band, who was called in the drummer for Asilent.

Fiaz proposed Emile to take up the vocalist position and tried his new role out for their rehearsals. Emile turned out to have a hidden talent behind the microphone and projected such viciousness and intensity in his vocals that left the band stunned.

The year now is 2011, and most unfortunately, with a tinge of regret. Emile has officially left Asilent due to unforeseen circumstances. Emile is still good friends with the guys. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours.

We are proud to have Danial Dahl on board to take over vocal duties... Also we have Nizam of Whorehouse Butchery fame on guitars...
Debut album is out NOW 2012 under Sevared Records (USA)

With heavy heart we are announcing our long time brother and the guy behind the drums Kenny will be leaving the band due to personal reasons and commitments. We wish his the very best in his future endeavors and he will always be an important part of our history.

Also we would like to welcome our new well renown drummer from pioneers and kings of grindcore in Indonesia NOXA, Alvin to the drum throne. We are excited and really looking forward to this partnership.

Currently we are playing shows promoting our debut album & also workinng on new materials. Do look out for more updates soon.

Discography :-
1) Demo Release: 2008
2) Dead Haggis Compilation 2009 (UK)
3) Grindthetic Records (UK) Damn & Blast Vol 5 Compilation : 2011
4) Recalibrated Chaos, 2012 Sevared Records (USA)

Vishal - What are you doing nowadays?
Fiaz - Well for me just basically working my ass off at work of course, working on new materials for Asilent and also busy preparing the arrival for our new drummer Alvin (NOXA).

Vishal - Can i get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of Asilent exactly means to the band?
Fiaz - Asilent started back in 2004 by me. Asilent use to be my side project as at that time I was in another band. As time passes my musical interest for the other band diminished and I wanted to do something more faster, heavier and brutal. So l left the other band and concentrated on Asilent and 9 years later here we are. We use to be a 5 piece band with 2 guitarists but the chemistry wasn’t there, so we decide to stick to 1 guitarist and me the bassist. There have been lineup changes throughout the years but currently we have the strongest lineup. Asilent actually came about when I was watching a movie about some guy who was in an Asylum but he was mute and couldn’t shout so I played around with the words Asylum plus Silent and that is where the band name Asilent is born LOL..

Vishal - What are the lyrical themes you use in your song?gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc..
Fiaz - Lyrics wise, we love the zombie sub culture plus gore and we want to incorporate that into our lyrics but with deeper meaning relating to modern society and its problems that we face.

Vishal - How it feels to be in a Underground band? And for how many years you are in this scene?
Fiaz - Honestly I love playing in an underground band and being in the underground scene. The misconception is that the underground scene is small, but hell places in Europe, North and South America, Asia especially Indonesia has a crazy HUGE underground scene. I have been playing in the underground scene for about 11 years now and Asilent has been around for 9 years now.

Vishal - Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?
Fiaz - Well musically definitely Gorgasm, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Pyaemia, Abominable Putridity, Putridity, Jasad & Nasum. Lyrically our influence are zombies movies, books, cartoons anything related to zombies is definitely our influence.

Vishal - What are the future plans of Asilent? any tours, releases, recordings etc.
Fiaz - We will be releasing a new album in 2014, we are currently working on our new songs and hopefully will complete it by end of 2013. We also working with a new drummer Alvin from NOXA which we are really excited. Lastly we decide that the new album will be recorded in Jakarta, Indonesia just because we love Indonesia so much that we need to get the new album recorded there. We have a final show in 2013 in Thailand we will update more on that in the coming months and hopefully in late 2014 mini US tour & 2015 a Europe tour. That’s the major plans we have now and any updates you can check on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/AsilentBand)

Vishal - What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?
Fiaz - I think its great thing entirely, reason being there loads of bands out there that needs underground sites to help promote them. Even when we first got the Asilent name out there, we had the help of contacts and sources from underground sites.

Vishal - How do you feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres..
Fiaz - Everything is ever changing in this world even music, that’s evolution. Musicians will always try to create a new sound that’s different and interesting to captivate the audience. It’s either you do right and people will love it or you produce entirely crap which people will still listen and support but true musician will know its shit. Honestly for me and my band we love all kinds of music and believe that some music should just stay how it is and not change. But our ultimate love is still brutal death and grind stuff.

Vishal - In general term metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?
Fiaz -
Well before it’s hard for society and now it’s really hard for them to accept extreme music, BUT slowly its openin up towards extreme music not alot but a little. Honestly that’s better then not excepting entirely right.

Vishal - Ok, what do you want to tell those peoples who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?
Fiaz - Well in the current society, the mass audience rely on downloads to check bands out and discover new bands. Honestly i’m fine with it to a certain extend. For me I will download as well just tochec out their stuff but after once I enjoy it i will personally buy the CD to support and keep. BUT i totally don’t agree how loads of bands rip of artworks from other bands, now THAT is fucking disgusting. Artist work really hard at the artwork and the bands pay loads of money for it so ripping the artwork off is just pure fucking disrespectful.

Vishal - Beside Asilent do you have any other projects you have? If then, Can you tell us about those projects in few words?
Fiaz - Besides Asilent I have another side project I’m working on call POBREZA. It a death grind band with influences from Misery Index, Nasum, Rotten Sound, Dyscarnate & Gorgasm. Only thing about this band is the other members are all foreigners from places like US & Belgium. For Asilent im the bassist and second vocalist, but for Pobreza, I’m the drummer. Currently we just woring stuff out nothing concrete but once Asilent more settled and release our second album and done with touring, then we will release some materials for this band. So do keep a look out for it.

Vishal - Is it hard surviving in underground Scene?
Fiaz - Yes it’s definitely hard surviving in the underground scene, that’s why most of us even big bands like Suffocation all have day jobs that supports our passion / music /band and not forgetting our family and other responsibilities like bills and all. We still continue.

Vishal - Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?
Fiaz - Honestly it doesn’t bother me whether bands are underground or mainstream, different musicians / bands have their ideology. All bands wants success like bands Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Vader etc... But like I said depends on the bands itself, for me and my band we are definitely aiming to greater heights and success.

Vishal - What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal?
Fiaz - The current state of the underground scene is actually getting better and better. Slowly and surely you loads of Asian bands getting exposed in the international extreme music scene which is awesome as people before use to think highly of bands from western countries, now you have loads of asian bands making a name for themselves which is fucking awesome.

Vishal - Which is the album you want to take to your grave?
Fiaz - AHAHAHA can I take all of it. Ok honestly I would take all my Gorgasm releases from their Stabwound Intercourse demo to the latest Orgy of Murder album. I’m a huge fan of Gorgasm.

Vishal - Can you recommend us some good bands from your country for our readers?
Fiaz - There a few good bands from my country from all genre of extreme music, most definitely you will know Wormrot, Truth Be Known, Fall of Mirra, Xanadoo, Embrace them Ghost, Demisor, Snaggletooth, Impiety, Analdicktion are just a few there are probably many more yet to be discovered.

Vishal - Support Underground Metal, how much you agree on this quote?
Fiaz - I totally agree with that statement if there’s no support there will be no underground scene at all.

Vishal - Where do our readers can buy and listen Asilent and any other merchandise?
Fiaz - Well you can get our CD’s and other merchandise from us or you can order it from our label Sevared Records and other labels like Comatose Music, Pathological Explicit Recordings are to name a few. BUT if you are lazy like me you can get it on iTunes or Amazon the easiest way AHAHAHA. Currently we ar printing our t-shirts previous shirts we printed some sold out and some left a few pieces so do get in contact with us (www.facebook.com/AsilentBand)

Vishal - Do you remember your first show with Asilent, How was it and how did the crowd reacted to your first show?
Fiaz - AHAHAHAH yes I remember and will never forget ever. It was this show call Hellnihilation, we were the first few opening bands had about 10 to 15 people at a small venue AHAHAH oh my god brings back memories.

Vishal - Metal Fans from Nepal doesn't have a proper way to reach your records and any other such bands, Is there an easy way so we can also get the hold of cds, shirts etc.
Fiaz - Honestly bro, the best way is to order online from the labels itself or what I suggest EUMSN becomes distributer for all extreme bands outside Nepal.

Vishal - Do you have any plans to come to Kathmandu in coming days?
Fiaz - We would really love to perform in Kathmandu, hopefully sometime in the future after our second alum release we would head down to Nepal to perform.

Vishal - What do you hate in Underground Metal?like, anything..
Fiaz - Honestly I hate people/bands who think they are better then everyone else. I have personally witnessed and personally know bands that are like that, the worst thing is they produce SHIT music and think they are really good. There are bands like that everywhere.

Vishal - Your dream metal fest line up.
Fiaz - Oh shit, well definitely GORGASM, DYSCARNATE, MISERY INDEX, NASUM, PYAEMIA, DISGORGE (US) & (MEX), WORMROT, DEFEATED SANITY, ROTTEN SOUND, JASAD, NOXA, DOWN FROM THE WOUND, TOOLS OF THE TRADE, ASILENT (OF COURSE LOL) & CANNIBAL CORPSE.. Thats my dream fest lineup AHAHAHAH

Vishal - Quick top 5 albums we must have in our collection.

Defeated Sanity – Passages into Deformity
Jasad – Rebirth of Jatisunda

Fiaz
- Well you have definitely covered almost everything about me and my band Asilent. However on behalf of Asilent I would like to thank Vishal & EUMSN for having this interview, we really appreciate it. Do look out for our new album to be release in early 2014, do check back to our facebook page (www.facebook.com/AsilentBand) for more updates and news regarding merchandise release, shows and tours.
