Hello Mallika this is Vishal from EUMSN (a small group that are really into Extreme Metal from Nepal - http://www.facebook.com/EUMSN) !!

I hope i am not bothering you and also, with due respect to your music I want to ask you few questions for Extreme Underground Metal Society Of Nepal & Thanks for taking out some precious time for EUMSN.

Mallika - My pleasure, thanks Vishal for wanting to interview me.

Vishal - What are you doing nowadays?

Mallika - Just keeping really busy with the bands and freelance artwork.

Vishal - Can i get the story of your band and biography? What is the meaning of Abnormality exactly means to the band?
Mallika - The name “Abnormality” is pretty self explanatory, something that is outside the norm. We strive to make quality extreme music, without worrying about conforming to certain boundaries or styles. The band was formed in late 2005, and consists of five members; myself, Jay Blaisdell, Jeremy Henry, and Ben Durgin. We have 3 releases out, including our most recent full length CD, “Contaminating the Hive Mind.”

Vishal - What are the lyrical themes you use in your song?gore, horror, politics, anti religion etc..
Mallika - We have lyrics about many subjects, mostly political, some personal stories, some anti-religion, and some gore but not many. We write about whatever is inspiring us at the time.

Vishal - How it feels to be in a Underground band esp. when your are a female in male dominant scene? And for how many years you are in this scene?
Mallika - I joined my first death metal band ten years ago. I have been with Abnormality for over 7 years, and my new band Parasitic Extirpation since late 2011. I’m having a fine time as a female in the scene. I’m just enjoying myself like one of the guys.

Vishal - Which are the bands that have influenced your band most?
Mallilka - I would have to say bands like Cryptopsy, Origin, Hate Eternal, Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Deeds of Flesh have influenced us the most.

Vishal - What are the future plans of Abnormality? any tours, releases, recordings etc.
Mallika - We released our last album in 2012. We are currently writing new songs for a future release. We are aiming to tour Europe next sometime this year.

Vishal - What is your opinion on sites posting Underground Materials?
Mallika - I’m not quite sure I understand your question. Metal blogs that post news and reviews are cool and helpful to the scene. Sites that give away bands’ songs are not cool.

Vishal - How do you feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres..
Mallika - I think some classifications are necessary to help listeners find bands they will like more easily. But I think some people get carried away with creating new subgenres.

Vishal - In general term metal isn't appreciated by Society what do you have to say on this?
Mallika - I’m fine with the majority of metal staying in the underground. It’s extreme and often offensive, not for the mainstream listeners. That’s why it’s underground music!

Vishal - Ok, what do you want to tell those peoples who rips off the band hard work and illegally downloads their music?
Mallika - Stop! Haha. This is a difficult subject. I know illegal downloads are inevitable, and I know some people can’t afford legal downloads. Those people don’t realize we are also poor and and how much money we spend on the band. As long as they support us in other ways, like going to a show and/or buying a shirt, I can’t complain. At the same time, there are better ways to listen to the music free and still help the band, like Spotify and Youtube. Hopefully if people can't afford to pay, they will choose those methods instead.

Vishal - Beside Abnormality do you have any other projects too?
Mallika - I am also vocalist of Parasitic Extirpation.

Vishal - Is it hard surviving in underground Scene?
Mallika - It is indeed difficult. They only way to survive is by getting income from other sources, day jobs. We love to make the music, so we do what we need to do to continue.

Vishal - Metal has to be underground or metal has to go mainstream, what's your opinion?
Mallika - Certain types of metal can go mainstream, and some can only be underground. There’s a place for both.

Vishal - What is your opinion on the current state of underground metal?
Mallika - I think the underground scene here in the US is strong. There are a lot of great bands and supportive people keeping it going.

Vishal - Which is the album you want to take to your grave?
Mallika - Only one? Hmmm. Suffocation- Pierced from Within.

Vishal - Can you recommend us some good bands from your country for our readers?
Mallika - Yes of course. There are so many good death metal bands from the US!!! For starters: Malignancy, Gorgasm, Disgorge, Dehumanized, Bloodsoaked, Guttural Secrete, Incinerate, Coathanger Abortion, Animals Killing People, Goemagot, Sapremia, Abdicate, Habitual Defilement, Expurgate, and from my hometown of Boston: Revocation, Sexcrement, Dysentery, Hivesmasher, Scalpel, Scaphism, Soul Remnants... There’s so many more, it’s impossible to list them all!

Vishal - Support Underground Metal, how much you agree on this quote?
Mallika - I agree 110%! The underground metal scene would not survive without the support of bands and fans.

Vishal - Do you remember your first show with Abnormality, How was it and how did the crowd reacted to your first show?
Mallika - Our first show was at our drummer’s house party back in 2006, with Dehumanized, Sexcrement, and Soul Remnants. It was a fun and crazy time.

Vishal - Metal Fans from Nepal doesn't have a proper way to reach your records and any other such bands, Is there an easy way so we can also get the hold of cds, shirts etc.

Vishal - Do you have any plans to come to Nepal in coming days?
Mallika - No plans right now, but we would love to come there as soon as we are able.

Vishal - What do you hate in Underground Metal?like, anything..
Mallika - I can’t think of anything I hate. I love the underground.
